May 30-31 Social Justice Skillshare Weekend

Girls Rock Charleston, a local social justice organization, is hosting a Political Education/Skillshare Weekend! The GRC PE/Skillshare Weekend will take place from Saturday, May 30 to Sunday, May 31 at the College of Charleston’s Addlestone Library. Throughout the weekend, community leaders and members will be facilitating workshops and skillshare sessions aimed to support our efforts as non-profits, organizers, individuals, and volunteers in the Charleston community and beyond.

The goal of the weekend is two-fold: first, we want to make space for leaders and shakers in the Charleston area to discuss the work they do to uplift young people in our communities (particularly girls, youth of color, LGBTQ youth, youth with disabilities, and/or low-income youth) and to provide an opportunity for those organizations and individuals to build out their work, together. This goal also includes providing space for discussions about the internal workings of organizations in Charleston and potential problems we all face, such as space, funding, and resourcing.

Second, we want to facilitate much-needed political education for new organizers in Charleston. We hope to work together with other organizations during this skillshare weekend to provide the valuable feminist and anti-racist political education that is needed to develop strong social justice leaders in Charleston.

Who can attend? Organizers, folks from non-profits, volunteers for Girls Rock Charleston, teens, college students.
