APR 23: Community Litter Sweep at Gadsden Creek

From our friends at the SC Aquarium…

Join the Friends of Gadsden Creek, the Charleston RiverDogs, and the South Carolina Aquarium for a community litter sweep at Gadsden Creek! We’ll meet at the corner of Hagood Avenue and Fishburne Street (318 Fishburne St, Charleston, SC 29403). Street parking is available on Hagood Avenue and Line Street.

After a brief welcome, introduction to the importance of Gadsden Creek, and how plastic pollution contributes to flooding, we’ll conduct a cleanup of the creek and use citizen science to track what we find using the Litter-Free Digital Journal, a project in the South Carolina Aquarium Citizen Science app.

All sweep supplies will be provided, just dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes or mud boots. We’ll sweep for ~1.5 hours and provide refreshments to all volunteers following the event. Please bring a reusable water bottle – we’ll have a water refilling station.
