From our friends in Awendaw…
The 25th Annual Awendaw Blue Crab Festival is set for Saturday, August 27th
Mark your calendars! The 25th Annual Awendaw Blue Crab Festival is back on Saturday, August 27th from 11am – 5pm. Get ready to dive into hundreds of bushels of tasty, local Lowcountry Blue Crabs along with family-friendly activities, live music, and more.
The first Blue Crab Festival dates back to 1994 when a small group of Awendaw residents gathered under the live oak tree at Town Hall to enjoy a few bushels of crabs together. This small gathering has since grown into an annual celebration of Awendaw life and their delicious local, steamed Lowcountry Blue Crabs.
This year, the event will be held at the Town of Awendaw Municipal Park, located at 7997 Doar Road where an expected 3,000+ guests will gather for a day full of food, beverage & art vendors, live music, a large kids area, hayrides, pontoon boat rides, dancing, and of course, Lowcountry Blue Crabs galore! Crabs will be served by the bucket with your choice of flavor – traditional, garlic, or cajun, or satisfy any of your other cravings with various food truck options.
