“In this time of COVID-19, we are working to broadcast a virtual summit designed to bring a broader awareness to the issues that continue to face the criminal justice system in South Carolina. Racial disparities are pervasive and much of our work focuses on identifying and addressing these disparities in our clients\u2019 individual cases and the system as a whole. Without facing racial inequities, we cannot have a fair and just system.<\/p>\n
This October, our goal is to host a virtual forum where scholars and activists can share information about the legacy of racial bias in the criminal justice system and its lasting effects, followed by important discussions about actions that can lead to real change.”<\/p>\n
