Charleston\u2019s Upper Peninsula is 836 acres of neighbors, businesses, churches, cemeteries, and big roads like Upper Meeting and King. Simply connecting can be a challenge in this part\u00a0of the neck, and at Enough Pie, we\u00a0seek to\u00a0connect creatively.<\/p>\n<p>That is why Enough Pie\u00a0created\u00a0<strong>UP-Start<\/strong>\u00a0(previously Community Project Grants), ongoing funding and support for\u00a0implementing\u00a0creative ideas in\u00a0the\u00a0Upper Peninsula.\u00a0So far, Enough Pie\u00a0has funded six projects, including a mosaic hopscotch for the Romney Street Urban Garden (pictured above).<\/p>\n<p>In addition to\u00a0its\u00a0new name, UP-Start\u00a0will have rolling\u00a0deadlines for applicants\u00a0so\u00a0artists and creative citizens can submit their project idea\u00a0anytime during\u00a0the year for funding opportunities. Awards\u00a0for high-impact, low-cost projects in\u00a0the Upper Peninsula with arts and culture at the core range from\u00a0$200-$1,200 according to the size, scope and impact of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants should submit a letter of intent (LOI) online, describing the proposed project and explaining how it fits within the framework of Enough Pie\u2019s mission. If accepted, applicants will complete an interview process to further clarify the details of the project. Enough Pie encourages artists to approach UP-Start from a broad perspective \u2013 get creative and think outside the box \u2013 and consider the lasting impact on the Upper Peninsula. In the past, the best projects have come from within the community for the community.<\/p>\n<p>UP-Start funding is limited to individuals only (no organizations please), but all ages are welcome to apply. There is no application fee. Enough Pie will act as co-partner with the individual grantee to help facilitate project execution and implementation such as partnership opportunities,, administration and promotional efforts.
