{"id":356,"date":"2013-01-10T18:55:00","date_gmt":"2013-01-10T18:55:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/growpurpose.com\/charlestongood\/?p=356"},"modified":"2013-01-10T18:55:00","modified_gmt":"2013-01-10T18:55:00","slug":"free-film-screening-soul-food-junkies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/growpurpose.com\/charlestongood\/free-film-screening-soul-food-junkies\/","title":{"rendered":"Free Film Screening: SOUL FOOD JUNKIES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Everyone is invited to a free preview screening of <a href=\"http:\/\/parkcirclefilms.org\/films\/community-cinema-soul-food-junkies\" target=\"_new\">SOUL FOOD JUNKIES<\/a>:<br \/>Sunday, January 20, 2013<br \/>4:00 p.m.<br \/>Olde Village Community Building<br \/>4820 Jenkins Avenue<br \/>North Charleston<\/p>\n<p>Free community film screenings are provided monthly (Sept-May) by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkcirclefilms.org\/\" target=\"_new\">Greater Park Circle Film Society<\/a> and Community Cinema Charleston.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly films, which are previews of upcoming PBS Independent Lens films, feature a panel discussion of the film and promise to &#8220;connect the audience with organizations, resources, and opportunities to get involved in some of today&#8217;s key social issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Soul Food Junkies examines the soul food tradition and its role in black cultural identity while also addressing the socioeconomic conditions which often create obstacles to healthy food options. <\/p>\n<p>Of equal importance is the film&#8217;s focus on the growing food justice movement.<\/p>\n<p>This is a really exciting opportunity for us locally.
