Created by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/\">buildingcommunityWORKSHOP<\/a>, a Texas-based nonprofit community design center, Neighborhood Stories is a \u201cresearch and documentation project that celebrates community identity, history and culture by showcasing neighborhood histories.\u201d As the website states:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Neighborhood Stories give the histories and context of neighborhoods from the perspective of the past, and the people who currently live there. The stories we document are about people, places and things that make a community.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Among the Neighborhood Stories are films about\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/urban-garden-profiles\">urban community gardens<\/a>,\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/bonton-ideal-trailer\">impact of segregation on communities<\/a>, innovative solutions to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/cottages-groundbreaking\">housing the chronically homeless<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/tenth-street-sweep-video\">auditing existing public spaces<\/a>, improving the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/improving-the-recovery-process\">disaster recovery process<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/parklet-short\">creation of a parklet<\/a>, and issues surrounding community\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bcworkshop.org\/posts\/one-day-in-lrgv\">stormwater management and drainage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To enable others to launch Neighborhood Stories in their communities, bc created the <a href=\"https:\/\/issuu.com\/bcworkshop\/docs\/neighborhood_stories_project_guide_\">Neighborhood Stories Project Guide<\/a>, a short, free guide to creating a Neighborhood Story of your own.
