Arts Commission.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The first in a series of workshops, the event is set for 6 p.m., Tuesday, September 30 at Mt. Pleasant Regional Library, 1133 Mathis Ferry Road. Artists must live in the Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Corridor, and attendance is limited to 30 people. To register, artists must contact Arts Participation Program Director Susan DuPlessis at <a href=\"mailto:sduplessis@arts.sc.gov\" target=\"_blank\">sduplessis@arts.sc.gov<\/a> or (803) 734-8693 and provide a name, phone number and email address.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">Charleston native Kerri Forrest, award-winning journalist and owner of Social Creative Media Consulting, will lead the workshop and offer tips and tools for Gullah Geechee artists to create basic support materials necessary for promotion of their art work through a variety of mediums which include music, arts, handicrafts, food, spirituality, language, education and economic development.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The Corridor was created to recognize contributions made to American culture and history by African Americans known as Gullah Geechee, who settled in coastal counties of South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina, to assist organizations in the four states in interpreting and preserving Gullah Geechee folklore, arts, crafts and music; and to assist in identifying and preserving Gullah Geechee sites, historical data and artifacts for the benefit and education of the public.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"background-attachment: initial; background-clip: initial; background-image: initial; background-origin: initial; background-position: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-size: initial; margin: 0in 0in 12pt;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;\">The S.C. Arts Commission is holding three workshops in conjunction with local libraries.
