[click to enlarge|print]<\/figcaption><\/figure>Gus Speth<\/strong> is a former dean of the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies, founder and president of the World Resources Institute, and co-founder of the Natural Resources Defense Council. His past professional credits include experience as administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, chair of the U.N. Development Group, professor of law at Georgetown University, and chair of the U.S. Council on Environmental Quality during the Carter administration. Speth recently published\u00a0Angels by the River, a memoir about growing up in Orangeburg, S.C.<\/p>\n

Albert George II<\/strong> is the first director of conservation for the South Carolina Aquarium and co-founder of the Amazon Reforestation Project. George completed his B.S. in marine biology and chemistry from Savannah State University, and he studied physiology cellular molecular genetics at Yale University. He also\u00a0earned an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a master\u2019s degree in public policy with a concentration in science and technology policy from Harvard University\u2019s Kennedy School of Government. Attendees are invited to participate in a question and answer session after the discussion. Speth will sign copies of\u00a0Angels by the River, and a portion of book sale proceeds will support Charleston Friends of the Library.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
