Jennet Robinson Alterman is a native of Charleston and is currently involved in womens rights advocacy efforts across SC. She has worked in federal and state government as well as the private and nonprofit sectors. She holds an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from the College of Charleston and volunteers for a variety of community organizations. She also serves as the Board Chair of the SC Women\u2019s Rights and Empowerment Network, a statewide organization building a movement to protect and support the health, economic well being and rights of SC women, girls and their families.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Altaf Hussain, VP of ISNA, holds a doctoral degree from the Howard University School of Social Work in Washington D.C. He serves as Executive Assistant for Academic Affairs in the Office of the Provost at Howard University and is a double alumnus of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Altaf is a former two-term national president of the Muslim Students Association, and a board member of the Peaceful Families Project.
\nDr. Husain\u2019s research interests include displaced populations (homelessness, victims of disaster, immigrants and refugees), mental health and psychosocial well-being of adolescent immigrants and refugees of color in the U.S.; immigration policy and its impact on the family; cultural competence; and the development of social service agencies in the Muslim community.<\/p>\n

The Shifa Clinic<\/strong> <\/a>is a non-profit and tax exempt clinic\u00a0established by\u00a0The Islamic Circle of North America\u00a0Relief USA (ICNA Relief USA).<\/p>\n

Our Clinic has been providing compassionate quality advanced Gynecological and Primary \u00a0health care to the residents of our communities who do not have health insurance and cannot pay for such services. The clinic was established on January 7th<\/sup> 2012 with the financial support of Islamic Circle of North America <\/em>(ICNA) Relief USA<\/em> to eliminate health barriers by offering health services without cost.<\/p>\n

Along with medical services, we have three hunger prevention programs including Child hunger prevention, Food pantry, and Homeless hot meal service .<\/p>\n
