One way to get YOUR<\/strong> seat at the table is to participate in your neighborhood association or council. Our creative friends (we call them the non-profit with a place-making bent) at\u00a0Enough Pie<\/a>\u00a0recently unveiled a Neighborhood Toolkit<\/strong> that they developed in partnership with the City of Charleston. We’ve included at our Projects page\u00a0here<\/a> at IfYouWereMayor.com<\/span><\/a>. The toolkit is designed to provide support and sample materials for neighborhood groups to help create and maintain dynamic and connected communities. The document includes:<\/p>\n
    \n
  1. An introduction to the City of Charleston team members who support neighborhoods (including contact info);<\/li>\n
  2. Ideas for organizing neighborhood meetings;<\/li>\n
  3. Templates for meeting materials;<\/li>\n
  4. New ways to communicate, and MORE.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Enough Pie’s Executive Director Cathryn Zommer gives some insight into the process of putting together the toolkit, “…We identified the shared need from residents for tools to lead to more productive and positive meetings, facilitate communications and outreach, and tap creative ideas for fundraising and fellowship. The goal is for neighborhood associations to feel less like work and more like neighbor-driven community building – finding meaningful ways to connect and be empowered.”<\/p>\n

    Mayor Tecklenburg expressed gratitude for Enough Pie’s efforts, “Neighborhood councils lie at the very heart of our city, working day in and day out to preserve and protect our city’s livability and our citizens’ quality of life. This new toolkit has been designed from the ground up to help them with their efforts, and we thank Cathryn Zommer and everyone else at Enough Pie for their hard work and commitment to excellence on this important project.”<\/p>\n
