Also, any child that brings a children&#8217;s book to donate will receive a free root beer! The Charleston Friends of the Library fund over 6,000 programs, classes, and events each year.\u00a0 The Friends collect and sort donated books for resale to raise money. Donated books from this year\u2019s \u201cBooks for Beer\u201d event are in turn sold at one of the five book sales held throughout the year by the Friends.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About National Library Week<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation&#8217;s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.
