Requiem for Rice"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">From our friends at the Charleston Chronicle&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span class=\"s1\">Celebrated<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">international<\/span> artist <span class=\"s1\">and<\/span> City <span class=\"s3\">of<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Charleston<\/span> Ambassador <span class=\"s1\">for<\/span> the <span class=\"s1\">Arts,<\/span> Jonathan <span class=\"s1\">Green<\/span> is pleased to announce J<i>onathan <\/i><span class=\"s1\"><i>Green\u2019s<\/i><\/span><i> <\/i><span class=\"s1\"><i>\u201cRequiem<\/i><\/span><i> for <\/i><span class=\"s1\"><i>Rice\u201d,<\/i><\/span><i> <\/i><span class=\"s1\">presented<\/span> in <span class=\"s1\">collaboration<\/span> with the <span class=\"s1\">International<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">African<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">American<\/span> Museum.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span class=\"s7\">Jonathan <\/span><span class=\"s8\">Green\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"s7\">\u201c<\/span>Requiem <span class=\"s1\">for<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Rice<\/span><span class=\"s8\">\u201d <\/span>is a<span class=\"s1\"> musical<\/span> tribute to honor <span class=\"s1\">and<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">recognize <\/span>posthumously the <span class=\"s1\">scores<\/span> of <span class=\"s1\">enslaved<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Africans<\/span> upon whom the <span class=\"s1\">infrastructure <\/span>of the United <span class=\"s1\">States<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">was<\/span> built <span class=\"s1\">and<\/span> who <span class=\"s1\">were buried<\/span> throughout the <span class=\"s1\">Lowcountry<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">and<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">across<\/span> the <span class=\"s1\">United<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">States<\/span> without <span class=\"s1\">being<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">recognized<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">as<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">citizens.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\" style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><strong>This <span class=\"s1\">inspired<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">socio-anthropological<\/span> memorial event will be<span class=\"s1\"> held<\/span> on <span class=\"s1\">Sunday,<\/span> October 22, 2017, <span class=\"s1\">at<\/span> 3:00 p.m. <span class=\"s1\">at<\/span> the historic<span class=\"s1\"> Mother<\/span> <span class=\"s1\">Emanuel<\/span> A.M.E. <span class=\"s1\">Church,<\/span> 110 <span class=\"s1\">Calhoun<\/span> St. <span class=\"s1\">Charleston,<\/span> S.C.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>EVENT INFO: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/events\/198731077329043\/\" target=\"_blank\">facebook.com\/events\/198731077329043\/<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From our friends at the Charleston Chronicle&#8230;
