From our friends at Charleston Black Theatre…<\/em><\/p>\n Charleston Black Theatre’s founder & Executive Producer, Yvonne Broaddus, in conjunction with St. John’s High School headed by newly appointed principal, Stephen Larson are working together with a coalition of Charleston’s highest quality of local performers, artists, musicians, dancers and singers to begin the school year with “Walking In Their Shoes Festival of the Arts”<\/strong>.<\/p>\n On\u00a0September 8, 2017, students will be given a day of creative workshops offered by Ann Caldwell<\/a> (vocals), Jessie Thrower and Queen Atterberry (Wo’se Adande African Drumer & Dance Co.<\/a>), Corina Fimian (Ballet Academy of Charleston<\/a>), Sharon Cooper-Murray<\/a> (traditional rag quilter and storyteller), Lee Jones and Jonathan Woodard (“Music for Life<\/a>” guitar instructors), Christopher Johnson<\/a> (artist), Karole Turner Campbell<\/a> (artist & drama coach), Manny Houston<\/a> (musician and MC), and Christine Washington<\/a> (poet).<\/p>\n The purpose of “Walking In Their Shoes Festival of the Arts” is to expose the students to the world of art expression, build their self-confidence and find their passions.\u00a0 The students will be allowed to choose the art forms that personally appeal to them and attend those workshops.<\/p>\n Charleston Black Theatre is grateful to the Office of Cultural Affairs<\/strong>, the South Carolina Arts Commission and Charleston Good<\/strong> for their continued support and guidance with our projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Kudos to all the local artists and organizers who are collaborating\u00a0on this\u00a0inspiring event!!!
