Expressing interest does not obligate the parent to send the student. Charles Heyward, Pastor of St. James Presbyterian Church of James Island. <\/p>\n<p>The Board consists of a diverse group of community volunteers including representatives from the business, legal, faith-based and school communities of the tricounty area. The \u201cIt Takes A Village\u201d educational initiative has been present in the Charleston Schools for nineteen years, working with students at Burke and North Charleston High Schools. We submitted an application to the State to operate a Charter School and was approved in 2013. However, the application was denied by the Charleston County School Board. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201cIt Takes a Village\u201d Board&nbsp; made the decision to move forward with a new focus of developing a single- gender all male middle school academy.
