LOWCOUNTRY EARTH WEEK: CLEAN-UPS, FESTIVALS, NATURE ACTIVITIES, SEMINARS,
AND WORKSHOPS FROM OVER 40 LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS
Featuring an array of opportunities for community members to give back this April 15-22
In partnership with over 40 local, conservation-minded organizations, Lowcountry Land Trust is spearheading this amazing collaboration unlike anything we have seen before in the local environmental space. There are so many great events happening – you definitely want to be a part of it!
This week-long celebration of the Lowcountry’s natural environment features a variety of clean-ups,
festivals, nature activities, seminars, and workshops. It will conclude with a family-friendly tabling
event at Holy City Brewing on Earth Day (4/22). Lowcountry Earth Week will occur from April 15-22,

natural environment during the Lowcountry Earth Week Initiative. These events provide an excellent opportunity for residents to learn about and engage in activities that help preserve our naturalresources for future generations,” says Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg.Organizations hosting Earth Week events include Alliance for Planet Earth, Audubon South Carolina, Carolina Ocean Alliance, Charleston Area Beekeepers Association, Charleston Area Justice Ministry, Charleston Climate Coalition, Charleston County Government, Charleston County Public Library, Charleston Green Drinks, Charleston Parks Conservancy, Charleston Moves, Charleston Surfrider Foundation, Charleston Waterkeeper, The City of Charleston, Coastal Conservation League, Coastal Expeditions & The Coastal Expeditions Foundation, Community Pride of Charleston County (Adopt-a-Highway), Folly Beach Association of Business Litter Committee, Friends of Gadsden Creek, Green Heart Project, Isle of Palms Cleanup Crew, Keep Charleston Beautiful, Kiawah Conservancy, Lowcountry Land Trust, Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network, The M.A.R.S.H. Project, Medical University of South Carolina, MESSA, South Carolina Aquarium, South Carolina Environmental Law Project, Sullivans Island for All, Sunrise Movement Charleston, The Sustainability Institute, and Turtle Survival Alliance.
“Lowcountry Earth Week was designed for area residents to come together as a community to
celebrate our shared commitment to protecting the natural beauty and ecological diversity of the
Lowcountry region,” remarks Ashley Demosthenes, president and CEO of Lowcountry Land Trust.
“We are honored to have been trusted by over 40 organizations to promote local earth week
happenings collectively and hope community members will participate in whichever events spark
their interest.”Volunteers of Earth Week events are invited to join us for a complimentary pint voucher courtesy of
Holy City Brewing on Earth Day, April 22, 2023, from 12 to 4 pm. The celebration will take place on
the brewery’s marsh-front lawn and feature a conservation fair of participating organizations. Earth
Week event participants will check in near the brewery entrance to get their vouchers. Additionally,
brewery guests are welcome to browse the tabling event on the lawn and learn more about the
conservation-minded organizations participating in Lowcountry Earth Week.
