12 years ago, the Deepwater Horizon tragedy showed us the need to move past fossil fuel reliance. Today, the tragedy in Ukraine reinforces this imperative for us. The oil industry is now pressing for expanded offshore drilling, but a growing body of evidence now shows that offshore drilling and fossil fuels can be phased out feasibly, to people’s benefit, with available clean energy and electric vehicles.
