This summer (July 1 – September 30), 5 Gyres and partner organizations will mobilize volunteers around the country to document plastic pollution at all 63 national parks using 5 Gyres’ research platform, TrashBlitz. The data will contribute to a report that unveils the quantity, materials, items, and brands of waste found in national parks. These results can be used as evidential support for the Reducing Waste in National Parks Act and other legislation to keep harmful single-use plastic out of our protected spaces.
