Danger: Trump is Panicking

Trump is losing now. Losing, losing, losing, one round after another. And that could be dangerous.

More about dangerous later, but first consider what has happened to him just since this month began.

On Nov. 4, Democrats clobbered Republicans in elections across America, up and down the ballot, red and blue states alike. Trump blamed the loss on the government shutdown, but it’s clear he was the cause.

Trump had virtually commanded Republican senators to end the shutdown by ending the filibuster, which would have given him virtual control of the entire government, but the very first day after the elections they refused.

A few days after that, Trump phoned GOP Reps. Lauren Boebert of Colorado and Nancy Mace of South Carolina and pressured them to withdraw their names from a petition that would force House Speaker Mike Johnson to schedule a vote on whether to force the Justice Department to release the Epstein files. They refused.

Then, in a last-ditch effort to stop the House vote, Trump had Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel call Boebert to the Situation Room – a room so secret that recordings cannot be made there — to exert maximum pressure on her to withdraw her signature. She still refused.

On Nov 12, House Speaker Johnson was forced to swear in Democrat Adelita Grijalva as a House member from Arizona, something he had steadfastly refused to do for 50 days, and she immediately signed the discharge petition, thus forcing Johnson to schedule a vote within seven days. At that point, Trump, having failed to convince anyone to switch to his side, out of time and aware he could not stop the vote, told Republicans they should “vote to release the Epstein files.”

Johnson scheduled the vote, but knowing its passage was certain he said the Senate would “take its time to amend the bill,” meaning the bill eventually would be returned to the House for discussion of the amendments and another vote, and any amendments would send it back to the Senate for more consideration.

All that would take huge amounts of time, but it didn’t happen. Instead, the House passed the by near-unanimous support – one Republican voted no — and then the Senate, instead of debating the bill, passed it by unanimous consent and sent on to Trump that same day.

Trump had no choice. He immediately signed the bill into law, but in doing so he had the audacity to take full credit for it. He wrote: “As everyone knows, I asked Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune to pass this Bill in the House and Senate, respectively. Because of this request, the votes were almost unanimous in favor of passage.”

Trump later said on Truth Social that he “DOESN’T CARE” if the Epstein files are released, and Bondi promised that the DOJ will release them in accordance with the Act. Don’t believe either one of them.

Trump is plainly lying. He promised during his campaign and into his presidency that he would release the files, but ever since he learned that his name is in them “multiple times” he has turned heaven and earth to keep them secret, insisting on Truth Social that they are a “DEMOCRATIC HOAX.”

Why would he suddenly not care now? It seems obvious he fears that if the files were released, they would ruin him. If he really doesn’t care if they are released, why won’t he just tell Bondi to release them? He could do that. He has that power. It doesn’t have to go through Congress, so why won’t he? Why wouldn’t he?

As for Bondi releasing the files, she’s safe because releasing them “in accordance with the Act” gives her escape hatches.

For example, four months ago Bondi said the files did not contain any information that would lead officials to investigate anyone else. Last Wednesday, she said she had received “new information, additional information,” and promised “to follow the law and investigate any leads.” In between those two statements, last Friday, Donald Trump ordered her to investigate several Democrats who might be involved.

Bondi is refusing to provide any details about that information, including names of people being investigated or whether it is the Democrats alone, explaining that they cannot comment on active investigations.

Another escape hatch: The Justice Department has said many of the Epstein files cannot be released because they contain sensitive victim information and pornographic material, and the law allows the Justice Department to withhold material that “would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy” or “depicts or contains child sexual abuse.”

“Of course we are going to protect victims,” Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said at the news conference alongside Bondi and Patel. “And the law as written allows us to do that.”

But Bondi’s ultimate escape hatch is that she could simply refuse to hand over the files, regardless of what she has said, regardless of what Congress demands, and regardless of what the law says, because the Act has no teeth they can use to force her. None!

Should Bondi refuse to release the files, Congress’ only hope would be to subpoena the materials, and if she still refused, it could refer her and other DOJ officials for criminal prosecution. But if they did that, it would ultimately be up to Bondi herself, and Bondi alone, to decide whether the DOJ must comply – in other words, whether she should agree to prosecute herself.

But not to worry. It ain’t gonna fly. Congress and the Supreme Court may have fallen, but We the People haven’t. We are resisting, we are doing it right, and we are making progress. We are peaceful, but we’re loud and getting louder every day. We are persistent. We’re turning out, speaking up, and being heard in Washington, loud and clear. Things are changing fast.

Never has a bill so strongly opposed by the president and his party so suddenly passed both houses of Congress, unanimously except for one vote in the House. You can almost feel the Republicans breathing a sigh of relief at learning they will not have to vote against a bill that an overwhelming majority of Americans strongly support.

The People’s pressure to release those files is going to grow, and grow, and grow until those files are released. And even if Bondi should manage to keep them secret, thousands of lawyers and FBI agents have read them and collectively know everything that’s in them, and someday, somebody is bound to break that silence. Somehow, one way or another, the truth will out.

And that’s where the danger lies. Trump knows that. He seems to fear that he will be tossed onto history’s trash heap if those files are released, and he realizes he’s running out of ways and time to keep them secret. Political candidates, incumbents or challengers, who used to see his endorsement as a godsend are now beginning to see him as poison, an albatross around their necks. So he must be feeling increasingly deserted, increasingly weakened as sole leader of MAGA, and increasingly cornered.

And cornering a madman can make him do strange things. How else can you explain his explosion at the female reporter who asked him a legitimate question? She asked him why he won’t release the files, and he fired back at her, “Quiet! Quiet, Piggy!”

But even that pales in comparison to what he did when several veterans who are congressmen now reminded people in uniform that they took oaths to serve the Constitution, not the commander-in-chief, and they could be severely punished for obeying unconstitutional or illegal orders, regardless of who issued them. And that goes for the highest generals to the lowest privates.

Trump responded that the lawmakers should be arrested — “thrown out of their offices” and “frog marched out of their homes at 3:00 AM with FOX News cameras filming the whole thing.” He said they should be “charged with sedition. … Insurrection. TREASON!” And he reposted a message from a user who wrote: “HANG THEM GEORGE WASHINGTON WOULD !!”

But that wasn’t enough. He later posted, “It’s called SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. Each one of these traitors to our Country should be ARRESTED AND PUT ON TRIAL. Their words cannot be allowed to stand—We won’t have a Country anymore!!! An example MUST BE SET. President DJT”

A few minutes later, this: “This is really bad, and Dangerous to our Country. Their words cannot be allowed to stand. SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR FROM TRAITORS!!! LOCK THEM UP??? President DJT”

And finally, at 10:21 a.m. Thursday, he went too far. He wrote, “SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!”

And so, the President of the United States says we should kill elected lawmakers because they reminded people in uniform, they took an oath to obey the law and the Constitution and that is what they should do. That, my friends, must be a sign of a madman.

That’s just more reason to turn up the heat on him and get him out of the White House as soon as possible. He’s got to go before he does something crazy to take the focus off the Epstein files, something like attacking Venezuela and killing innocent civilians.

Every House member and 33 senators will be on the ballot next November, and if we can make his name toxic enough to just a few of them, Congress could easily impeach and convict Trump before next November’s elections. We just need to keep on doing what we’re doing.
