It’s the Maga Party now, and not MAGA

It’s the Maga Party now, and not MAGA

We’ve got to stop calling those people who run the federal government these days Republicans. They are not Republicans. Republicans are people you can argue with about what’s best for democracy, then go sit down together somewhere and have a beer. You can’t do that with these people. They are not Republicans; they are RINOS who have commandeered the Republican Party’s name. They are neo-Nazis and they have no right to call themselves Republicans. So, we must quit calling them Republicans. We must come up with a better name.

Calling them MAGA Republicans, which I have used before, is better, but it’s not perfect. It identifies them as a cult of the Republican Party, but still a part of it. We need a complete divorce.

Calling it the MAGA Party isn’t bad. It accurately expresses the thought behind “Make America Great Again”, especially if you realize Trump thought America was great before the Revolution when a king ruled, or, if not, at least the 1940s South when white people ruled.

But best of all, I think, is naming it the Maga Party – capital M and small-case a, g and a. The reason is that, as I wrote in my Dec. 19, 2024 newsletter, maga is a perfectly good word in several languages that paints a glorious portrait of the Maga Party’s unchallenged dear leader.

I repeat those definitions here for emphasis. And, as I said in my previous listing, it works best if you read them slowly and picture the expression on someone’s face who speaks the language while face-to-face for the first time with Trump while he is wearing a MAGA cap:

Japan: wicked, evil, calamity, disaster.

Nigeria: a slang word for a sucker, fraud victim, or an easily fooled idiot.

South Africa: lies.

Western Java, in Indonesia: dragon (Sundanese language).

Italy: sorceress and female magician.

Portugal: sorceress, magician, wizard.

In Spanish maga means magician. In Latin it translates as witch.

And, my personal favorite, maga is the name for the highest rank in The Church of Satan.

So, from now on, for me, no more insulting true Republicans by using their name and his name in the same sentence. He is not the Republican president of the United States, he is the Maga Party’s would-be neo-Nazi dictator of the United States (or, perhaps, co-dictator with Elon Musk).

So from now on, in my mind and usage – and I hope yours — he’s a Maga, his followers are Magas, they belong to the Maga Party, and if Maga almost rhymes with magot it was not intentional.

If you agree, please forward this to your friends, and enemies. Let’s save the Republican Party’s name so we can once again debate what’s best for democracy, not whether we should even be one.

Thanks for this, Skip. I especially loved the article on 30 things. This has energized me, and I’m going to be buying some poster board this weekend. Didn’t know about wheat pasting, but that was interesting too.
