From our friends at Southeastern Clean Energy Alliance…
Right now the EPA is accepting comments on an important proposed environmental standard that would save lives and protect the environment by reducing harmful air pollution from power plants and industrial facilities that crosses state lines. The rule, called the Cross State Air Pollution Rule, or Good Neighbor Plan, would protect residents in dozens of states who are unknowingly subjected to toxic emissions from plants often hundreds of miles away. EPA needs to hear that we all support this life-saving protection. Take action and sign the petition to the EPA today!
The Good Neighbor Plan would reduce ozone, or smog, enough to provide up to $18 billion in yearly benefits by 2026. The plan would also prevent up to 1,000 premature deaths, 2,000 hospital visits, 1.3 million cases of asthma symptoms, and 470,000 school absence days.
Please sign the petition to urge the EPA to finalize this rule.
The comment period closes June 21 so be sure to sign and show your support before then!
