From our friends at Best Friends of Lowcountry Transit…
We believe if we don’t force local government to move to build the rapid transit system this spring that the system will never be constructed.
Last week, for the first time, representatives of the COG began discussing a possible start date for operations which has now retreated into the next decade, 2030. 15 years to build a rapid transit bus line is more time than anyone, anywhere on planet earth has ever needed at any time in history to build such a system.
The infrastructure funds to build a system linking downtown Charleston, North Charleston, Ladson, Lincolnville, Hanahan, Goose Creek and Summerville and to build affordable housing along that system is in Washington, DC now. If we wait to claim it, it will be sent elsewhere.
