Seeking Solutions Beyond the Data
Thursday, December 10
11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
“In this discussion, Dr. Ivory Toldson, author of “No BS (Bad Stats): Black People Need People Who Believe in Black People Enough Not To Believe Every Bad Thing They Hear About Black People”, and researcher, Ashley Krejci-Shaw will debunk the myths about data and data specific to Black students so that the adults in their lives can enable them to soar to higher levels of achievement. This discussion is part 4 of an anti-racist speaker series to provide an opportunity to build an intellectual pathway for participants to discuss racial disparities and anti-racist solutions through a racial equity lens. This series is grounded in the foundational thinking that racial disparities across sectors, and specifically in South Carolina, are firmly rooted in a system of white supremacy which have created the current inequities and therefore cannot be resolved until the system has been acknowledged, disrupted, and rebuilt with equity at the center of the solutions.”
