Give One Book for Cynthia

Give One Book for Cynthia

July 10 – July 31

We are a small group that live in Charleston, SC and are asking everyone to please send a new children’s book to the St. Andrews Regional Library in memory of our beloved librarian and community leader Cynthia Hurd who was killed at Mother Emanuel Church on Wednesday June 17, 2015.

Cynthia was the library’s manager and loved teaching literacy to children and teens. Her email signature included these words: “Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.”

If you wish to donate a book, we suggest a book that was one of your favorite books as a child or something you like to read to the children in your family. The library would prefer hard backs if possible (more durable).

Please drop off the books to St Andrews Regional Library. All the donated books will be marked with a special plate stating that they were donated in Cynthia’s name.

On the inside of the front cover of the donated book, please write:
In Memory of Cynthia Hurd
Your Name(s)
City
Date
Words of Comfort/ Special Message

Send Books to:
St Andrews Regional Library
1735 N. Woodmere Drive
Charleston, SC 29407

Thank you for contributing to the spread of love and helping us in our fight against hate!
