CHARLESTON –The Old Exchange Building and The Charleston Maritime Center are proud to host the first annual “Charleston Pirate Festival.” This festival will be held at the Maritime Center on Sunday August 11, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
There will be visits from the infamous Blackbeard, Ann Bonney, and Mary Read. Meet these pirates, hear their stories, and make your very own pirate at the crafting tables. In addition there will be a musket demo held on the green space, lectures, and storytelling.
Appearing at the festival will be representatives from the Walled City Task Force, SC Institute Of Archaeology and Anthropology, SC Historical Society, Charleston Library Society, The Powder Magazine, Fort Dorchester State Historic Site, United States Coast Guard-Charleston Sector, Magnolia Plantation, and The South Carolina Battlefield Preservation Trust. Several local authors will be in attendance as well.
