GEECHEE GALA: An Archival Fundraiser

Join us for a night of culture and cuisine, as we walk you through the journey of preservation.
Starting at 6pm, we’ll open the night with yoga and hand drums, bringing the vibrations of the group to one rhythm. Immediately following these activities, A Taste of Gullah will guide everyone’s taste buds through the history of the Gullah Geechee culture. Renowned oral historian and chef, Giovanni R. will narrate the traditions of one of the countries oldest cultures, and explain why it is imperative that we not only care about these traditions, but also how they come into play in our daily lives as Charlestonians.
Throughout the night, guests will be encouraged to network and mingle amongst the photo exhibition, all a visual documentation of the 2+ year journey that Preserve The Gullah has gone through, from conception to present times. Culminating the night, ForwardHouse will give a presentation on why Preserve The Gullah was started, and why this preservation should continue, opening the floor to discussion and promoting guests to find a connection between themselves and the various projects that PTG offers.
It is truly a night (and mission) that should be experienced by all, as this history is relevant to each and every one of us.
