By 6th grade, middle-income students have been exposed to about 6,000 hours more learning than their low-income counterparts. What if established Charleston nonprofits came together to offer a seamless learning environment for economically disadvantaged youth that connects opportunities across developmental stages, calendar time, and learning environments?
Please join our next Ideas Into Action with four local organizations: College of Charleston’s Afterschool and Summer Learning Resource Center, Kids on Point, DistinguishedGentlemen’s Club, and Charleston Hope.
They’ll share intentional, community-based efforts for supporting year-round learning that ultimately helps youth get and stay on a pathway to high school, college, and beyond though building close relationships with school—or community—based mentors and providing enrichment opportunities that build critical thinking, life, and career skills.
GATHERING FOR GOOD:
Impact360 Summer Success, a Charleston collaborative of more than 15 established non-profits aiming to fill this crucial summer gap by participating in a six-week cross-sectorial educational and enrichment experience for 120 students in kindergarten through 12th grade at the College of Charleston this summer. We are coming together to bring a unique and exciting comprehensive program, designed specifically for each child’s learning, family, and related social issues.
