Urban Food Foraging – Share Your Stories!

This week, our #FoodJusticeFriday is focused on foraging.

“Over the past few years US cities have seen a rise in urban foraging– the act of searching for and gathering food in an urban landscape. In cities across the country, people from varied backgrounds, such as Native Americans, African Americans, Chinese, Korean and Latino/a immigrants, have been partaking in this practice of finding edible food amongst their urban landscapes.” – Julian Agyeman

There are lots of reasons folks forage for food – necessity, health, income, cultural heritage, love of nature, community-building, and pleasure are some of the common ones.

We’d love to hear your stories on local foraging. We know people are doing it. Let’s educate each other on the where and how.

Here are a couple of links we found interesting or useful.
