Clearly facts aren’t as powerful as they should be when combating fake news. So why not try a different approach?
That’s the thought behind a number of recent apps and games that incorporate humor and interactivity into “prebunking” misinformation rather than waiting for it to burrow into our brains.
“If only there was also a vaccine that could fix the rampant spread of fake news.
The idea isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds. Research shows that exposing people to weakened doses of misinformation can teach them to identify it, similar to how a vaccine coaches immune systems how to deal with a virus. And instead of getting a shot, you get to play a game.”
