The congregation of Mother Emanuel AME Church and Palmetto Community Action Partnership (CAP) invite the Charleston community to a free virtual camp for middle school students on June 24 to celebrate unity and diversity.
This interactive event is being held in conjunction with the Emanuel Commemoration Committee’s official Light of Hope activities to celebrate the enduring legacy of the Emanuel 9 and the survivors.
Based on a curriculum developed at Coastal Carolina University, children will learn how to appreciate diversity and differences and how to promote multi-culturalism in their schools and communities.
Due to COVID-19, the 2021 event will take place virtually.
Registration is required and open to current middle school students.

The event is designed for middle school age children to interact in a safe, educational environment that presents conversations and activities to foster understanding of ethnic/racial stereotypes and is held in partnership with the Emanuel Nine Commemoration Committee.
