A program that encourages learning life skills beyond the basics. This program is designed for participants to increase his or her level of independence in the community.
Beyond B.A.S.I.C: Building Awareness in Supportive Independent Communities
Mission: To help adults with special needs become contributing members of society by helping to foster independent living skills beyond the basics. To provide quality programming to the special needs community in a safe and healthy environment and to encourage inclusion by providing quality unified programs and activities to the community.
The five goals or elements that make up B.A.S.I.C
1. Develop Social Skills – Social setting, communication non-verbal, manners, anger management
2. Develop Health Awareness – nutrition, exercise, personal grooming, clean work and home area
3. Develop Independent Living skills – Time management, budgeting, planning events, transportation
4. Increase Self-esteem – Confidence, positive thinking, self image
5. Development in areas of personal interest – cultivate skills in selective areas of interest.
