Participants will learn the differences between Indian Classical dance and Bollywood dance. Dr. Anuradha Murali, Artistic Director of the Mrudani School of Performing Arts, will introduce the fundamentals, theory, and techniques of two different styles of Indian Classical Dance known as Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi. She received her formal training from numerous reputable Indian instructors, has served as an Adjunct Professor and Instructor of Dance at Columbia College and the University of South Carolina, and has written several scholarly articles in teaching Bharathanatyam and Kuchipudi for dance majors. In addition, Dr. Murali is the recipient of numerous grants/awards for dance choreography and dance performance and has performed at prestigious festivals both nationally and abroad.
No previous dance experience required
Workshop is best suited for ages 10 and up.
