Japanese Taiko drumming is a dynamic musical art form grounded in core aspects of martial arts, movement and percussion. In this two-hour workshop we will teach basic technique, history and etiquette of Taiko. The workshop is hands on with everyone playing drums and learning an original Taiko Charleston song. It is a mental and physical workout. Participants must be able to handle rigorous physical activity.
You can take the workshop as a stand-alone class if you just want to try it. For those who wish to continue, you can sign up for “Basic Intro to Taiko” which is a 6-week session that meets once a week on Wednesday nights at St. Andrew’s Gymnasium.
