Demonstrators: 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
Drew Lanham Reception: 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm
On-site demonstrations include cypress shingles, split oak basketmaking, whiskey still, fish striking, jack jumping, encamppment of Maroons, plume hunting. If you do not know what some of these are – come find out! The event is 11-3 – guided walks will leave the visitor center every 20 minutes ending at 1:00. The demonstrators will be at their posts until 3:00.
Drew Lanham will be here to share from his new book, THE HOME PLACE. We will have demonstration workshops that will connect us with the swamp in traditional ways. Take pride in our cultural heritage and explore how we are defined by our connection to the land.
We will have light snacks and reception at 3-5 for more in-depth conversations with Drew- connecting the dots of conservation.
