The mission of Charleston Waterkeeper is simple: “protect the public’s right to clean water.”
Their emphasis is on keeping our waterways swimmable, drinkable and fishable. Some might call what they do a noble cause. We prefer to think of it as downright essential.
The importance of maintaining the cleanliness of our water may seem obvious, but the great deal of work it takes goes largely unnoticed.
Charleston Waterkeeper’s basic approach is to monitor our water systems, investigate pollution and contamination issues, take action as needed, and celebrate and share their appreciation for our glorious watershed with the community. Sounds pretty darn good to us!
This is why we are excited to promote Charleston Waterkeeper as our cause of the month.
