GOOD IDEA: The “Repair Café”

All buzzwords aside, here is a great example of the positive impact of real sharing!

A few years ago, the good folks of Willimantic, Connecticut launched a project to keep usable goods out of landfill by joining together to share their skills and salvage items for one another.

They started a “repair cafe,” where once a season locals can bring broken household items like vacuums, bicycles, and clothes for repair. Knowledgeable neighbors help fix the broken items and provide their owners with a few tips on how to take care of problems in the future.
