Jul 19 – “Ideas Into Action” : Preventing Child Sexual Abuse

IDEAS INTO ACTION
Wednesday, July 19th, 9:30 – 11am
Featuring Darkness to Light, and their special guests to discuss the movement to prevent child sexual abuse

As you may know, Darkness to Light began right here in Charleston 16 years ago. The idea was to empower the Lowcountry to keep children safe, then replicate that model across the country…community by community. And though Darkness to Light now works in all 50 states and 18 other countries, their commitment to the Lowcountry is strong. In fact, because so many Charlestonians have been educated and certified to protect children, they are seeing some very interesting statistics that I’m sure you will want to hear more about.

In most cases, people support nonprofits so that the experts that work for the nonprofit can solve the problems of the world. What I think is so unique about Darkness to Light is that they use their expertise to empower us – all of us – to solve the problem of child sexual abuse. It’s a powerful and effective approach. So, please join us on Wednesday, July 19th to learn more about how anyone can step in and make a difference for children and the very real threat of sexual abuse.

Our Gather for Good challenge is to raise $700 to train 1000 people in Stewards of Children®! While Darkness to Light’s training is normally $10 a person – they are offering their organizational bulk discount at $7 a training. All trainings would be offered to Lowcountry organizations in need (churches, PTAs, non-profits, youth serving organizations, summer camps, etc.). Local facilitators in Charleston are ready and waiting for training scholarships for their organizations!
