Jun 27 – Ideas into Action: Rising Tides & Flooding Streets

We hope you’ll join us for this month’s exciting collaborative Ideas Into Action gathering:

IDEAS INTO ACTION
RISING TIDES & FLOODING STREETS with expert panelist from Awakening V: King Tide
Tuesday, June 27, 9:30 – 11
RSVP: eventbrite.com/e/ideas-into-action-june-27-930-11-tickets-35217562678

In Fall of 2016, Enough Pie, a non-profit that uses creativity to connect and empower our community, gathered a team of artists, scientists, organizations and thought leaders to form a Steering Committee for Enough Pie’s fifth annual AWAKENING V: KING TIDE, a month of public art and events created to shine a light on rising waters and flooding streets from late April through late May king tides. By the end of May, 2017, nine public artworks, ten free events and over 15,000 takeaways had been distributed to shine a light on flooding streets and rising waters in Charleston’s Upper Peninsula.

On Tuesday, June 27th, you’re invited to join a group of members of the Steering Committee — scientists, artists and non-profits — for the results of the data collected from community surveys at these events and learn how to better prepare yourself, your family, and civic leaders for the rising waters.

EXPERT PANELISTS:
Dr. Mary Culver, NOAA
Dr. Bobbie Lyon, College of Charleston
Dr. Jessica Hardesty Norris, BioHabitat
Jared Bramblett, Awakening Artist & Engineer @ Davis & Floyd
Cecelia Dailey, Artist

The presentation will be based on the information and recommendations presented to the Charleston City Council on Tuesday, June 20th. This issue becomes more manageable when we understand more fully as a community what we face!

GATHER FOR GOOD: We’ll raise donations (cash or checks of any amount) for Enough Pie to help them with their mission — to use creativity to connect & empower our community in Charleston’s Upper Peninsula. Every little bit helps a small nonprofit!

Stay tuned, more information to come next week.

We look forward to having you join us!
