There is a growing movement to develop better transit system for the Lowcountry and you can be a part of it.
Local organizers are working to pass the referendum to make 600 million dollars available to build a Bus Rapid Transit Line from Summerville to Charleston, to replace aging equipment and upgrade stops and to increase the quality of regular bus service on our existing routes. In addition to the public events listed below, there are several other meetings and visits planned. Campaign supporters plan to talk to over 50 thousand people before November 8.

Activists, and change-makers will convene in meetings across the country to continue the movement for universal health care, free public college, ending private prisons, better public transit, addressing climate change, paid maternal leave, and so much more. This effort will be organizing over 20 different communities in the Lowcountry. This meeting focuses on four of them, however if you consider yourself a social justice advocate, you’re welcome regardless of who you are. Fabricio Rodriguez, Executive Director and National organizer for Americans for Transit, will be talking about how the campaign will be organized and how many people and what resources need to be mobilized to make it effective.
