MUSC’s Urban Farm: Free Hands-On Learning

MUSC’s Urban Farm is a local treasure. It’s educational, fun, beautiful, inspiring, and very accessible to the community, thanks to the friendly staff!

In MUSC’s own words, the farm is “an educational garden with the goal of creating opportunities for our community to learn how to eat for health. The MUSC Urban Farm is designed to be a living classroom where students, faculty, staff, and the community come together to explore the connection between food and health through hands-on learning about the many varieties of vegetables, fruit, and herbs grown in South Carolina.”

There are many ways you can participate:

  • Work and Learn: Hands-on learning sessions throughout the week where you can occasionally even bring home some of the harvest in exchange for your labor. Visit the web site for registration information.
  • Lunch & Learn: Informal gatherings featuring short presentations and opportunities to socialize. Bring your own lunch. No registration required.
  • Program Requests & Reservations: Customized tours, educational programs or other events. Contact Farm for more details. Fees may apply for non-MUSC groups.
  • Farm Hands: For those interested in more in-depth participation and training.
