This conference will enhance your understanding of the criminal justice system in our community and provide ways to help make it better.
All community members, faith-based groups, and criminal justice professionals are welcome. Together, we will discuss, learn, and contribute towards making our local criminal justice system the best one in the country. Participants will be engaged in rich discussion throughout the day to look back in time, at the present national and local status, and towards the future of our criminal justice system. Participants will also have opportunities to take specific and concrete actions to help bring about the desired future.
Topics include:
• Faith-based communities and the Criminal Justice System
• Local and statewide perspectives on current justice system strengths and areas for improvement
• Matters of pretrial justice that align with legal foundations and best practices
• Addressing the needs of those living with mental illness, addiction, and/or homelessness
• Proven practices to reduce re-offending in high risk populations
Speakers include community members as well as leadership from the criminal justice system and diverse faiths. The format will be multimedia panel discussions and interactive group discussions. Many organizations actively serving those involved in the criminal justice system will also be exhibiting at this conference. Through increased awareness and constructive engagement during and after the conference, we can achieve excellence in our criminal justice system.
