Program Summary:

Objective

Pathway to Politics: SC Women Run is a semi-annual conference offered through Pathway to Politics, Center for Women’s campaign training program. This multi-partisan program is designed to educate, inspire, and mobilize women to run for office and engage in political advocacy throughout South Carolina.

Presenting Organization

Pathway to Politics: SC Women Run is presented by the Center for Women, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization based in Charleston, SC. Center for Women’s mission is to educate and advocate so that women in South Carolina have economic success and are leaders in their personal, professional, and community lives. Programs include educational and networking events, career readiness and entrepreneurial training, personal counseling and support groups, and grassroots advocacy. In all of our programming, we take a unique approach to personal and professional development that emphasizes confidence building, soft skills training, and lasting connectivity across diverse groups of women.

In 2015, we published our first report on the Status of Women in South Carolina which examines disparities across four, key indicator areas: Leadership, Health and Safety, Education and Economic Security. Pathway to Politics is an outcome of research illuminating the female leadership deficit in elected office throughout South Carolina.

Target Audience

Pathway to Politics: SC Women Run’s target audience is comprised of South Carolina women who are interested in joining the political process either through direct candidacy, advocacy or campaign support. Women of all races, ethnicities, ages, creeds, professions and political affiliations are invited to participate.

Conference Format

Pathway to Politics: SC Women Run is a one day conference offering two tracks of break-out panel sessions. The first track will focus on those ready to run for political office, while the second track will offer ideas to those seeking greater engagement in advocacy and issues-based campaigns.

Speakers

The heart of the Pathway to Politics: SC Women Run conference is the insight, tactical expertise and ideas provided by our speakers and panelists, all of whom are currently active in South Carolina politics or issues-based advocacy.
