From our friends at the Lowcountry Blessing Box Project…
On Wednesday evening, a small group of volunteers ventured back out into the community for our first event in more than a year. The kids had a great time helping community members with their laundry. Because this event was such a success, we are in the midst of planning more Free Laundry Days, so stay tuned to our social media for updates.
Our thanks to Bombas, Undergarment Society, Laundry Spot, Charleston Library of Things, Gene’s Haufbrau, and Chipotle for partnering with us!
Offering to pay for laundry services gives us the chance to get together as a group and to teach our children the value of service. More importantly, it dignifies those who benefit and gives them one less expense in their monthly budget. If it has been awhile since you’ve been to a laundromat, you may be surprised to learn that to wash and dry one load of laundry can cost about $10.
Now more than ever we are looking for ways to help each other get through the pandemic and the economic hardships of the past year. If your group is interested in hosting a laundry event, email us at chsblessingbox@gmail.com – we’d be happy to help you get started.
