Join us January 15th for our New Year Kick-off Party. We will be discussing our plans for 2026 and some upcoming community events. All are welcome to share stories, successes, and other events going on.
This World Wetlands Day, join the Carolina Ocean Alliance, the City of Charleston WaterWise and Sustainability teams, Keep Charleston Beautiful, and Marsh Project in celebration of Newmarket Creek.
Beginning at 4 PM, we will meet at the headwaters of Newmarket Creek at the end of Grove Street by the LowLine. Teams of volunteers with data sheets, grabbers, buckets, and bags will clear litter and debris from the areas around the creek. There will be recycling bins on site for sorting glass and metal that can still be recycled.
After the clean-up, join us for a Charleston Green Drinks celebration at Edmond’s Original. Can’t make it to the clean-up but can make it to Charleston Green Drinks? No problem! We will see you there.

The Carolina Ocean Alliance, the City of Charleston WaterWise and Sustainability teams, Keep Charleston Beautiful, Friends of the LowLine, and The MARSH Project invite you to a SC Sweep Week clean-up of Newmarket Creek. We will start the sweep at the corner of Huger Street and Morrison Drive and will work as teams to clean up debris around Newmarket Creek.
After the sweep, join us for an after-sweep social hosted by Charleston Green Drinks at Taco Boy.

Hannah Escalante is a undergraduate student in the Environmental and Sustainability Studies Program at the College of Charleston. She will be co-hosting with us to share information on her research studies focusing on microplastic adsorption to tire wear particles and waste management via magnetic nanoparticles.
