From our friends at Charleston Climate Coalition…
Save the date! On Thursday June 27th at 6:00 PM, Dominion Energy is hosting a public hearing regarding its planned increases to customer bills and rooftop solar costs. These hikes will raise rates by 14.21% if approved and are a direct result of Dominion’s plans to expand reliance on natural gas in the Lowcountry (and make us pay for it), their disregard to consider alternative clean energy, and their failure to invest in energy efficiency. This will increase their return on equity from 9.5% to 10.6%, with its customers footing the bill for increased profits.
From our friends at CVSC: “This rate hike could also have big impacts on rooftop solar. For solar customers, energy has different costs at different times of day, whether you’re buying power off the grid or selling excess solar power back to Dominion. Dominion wants to make energy most expensive when the least solar is available, forcing rooftop solar customers to pay more when they buy power from the grid and devaluing the solar they do produce.”
We hope you will join us to help put Dominion in their place by:
